My New Journey - Day 8

Day 8 - Sunday, May 7, 2023

As I sit here, it's 2:30 pm. It's been a long day, it's hot (80 degrees) and humid, and I've got a headache. I need a shower, but can't leave Bali in the car in this heat for that long. And it's quite a few hours before dark. It looks like the only free option is the Walmart parking lot (which is where I'm currently at). Looks like there are several people here already. I don't see any "no overnight parking" signs, but they do have cameras everywhere and it is Tennessee (they don't allow overnight parking). So, I may just opt for a motel night.

Started off the morning with a small breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then off to pickup an Amazon package. Took the backroads most of the way to where I am right now. Had to get on I40-west for a short period, but it wasn't too bad.

I had been told by some road warrior friends that I need to experience Buc-ee's and that I needed to try their brisket sandwich and hot apple pie. In all my car travels, I've never been to a Buc-ee's. So when I saw one in Crossville, TN, I stopped. My first impression is that I didn't like the atmosphere...too crazy crowded for me. I did get the brisket sandwich and the apple pie however. I found a nice park nearby (Centennial Park) and I sat at the picnic table and ate lunch/dinner while Bali drooled. Just kidding! She got a wee bite of my sandwich. The sandwich was excellent by the way. The apple pie was just okay.

After eating, we sat for a bit and then walked around the park. It was a pretty big park with tennis courts and a skateboard area.

Then we drove on to where we currently are. Bali is chilling and wanting to know where we are stopping next. Silly girl!

I don't know. This is what it looks like right now. I'm at the far end of the parking lot, backed in just in case I need to leave in a hurry. It's starting to cool down a little bit.

According to the weather report, it looks like thunderstorms are supposed to hit in amount 90 minutes and last through the night. Hmmm...decisions...decisions...
