Day 22 - Sunday, May 21, 2023
It was a clear and beautiful morning as we left the campsite. I was a bit discombobulated as I hadn't gotten much sleep.
As I was heading out, I stopped in a little town and there were some friends there (wildlife). You can see the snow-capped Pike's Peak Mountain in the background.
I decided to head to Colorado Springs to get some breakfast. Found a Big Bear and I hadn't eaten at one of those in quite some time. I forgot how HUGE their breakfasts were. I ended up eating the eggs and nibbling just a little on the rest of it. That biscuit is gigantic! I got a doggie bag and may nibble on some more later. I was stuffed though. I had gotten up with a headache (probably from the storm) and the coffee helped.
From there, we headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park. It was free since I had my America the Beautiful Pass. The line to get in was only 20 minutes (not bad for a Sunday).
It's amazing how much snow they still have.
I was tired and decided to stay at the welcome center in Loveland, CO for the night. Loveland is cool. They have statues with hearts everywhere.
I used to live in Loveland. Great little town back in ‘94 - ‘96.
